Changes Ahead: Regulatory Convergence Toward Market Confidence

On behalf of the General Insurance Association of Indonesia (AAUI) I am pleased to welcome all our distinguished speakers, panelists, new and returning delegates to our 27th Indonesia Rendezvous. The theme: Changes Ahead: Regulatory Convergence Toward Market Confidence has been carefully chosen to flare up more fruitful discussion to highlight how the regulation and industry are together side by side in improving the market conditions of the general insurance industry to make it more conducive. And how the Insurance industry will present new perspectives and policy recommendations for unraveling new opportunities to increase Industry’s competitiveness.

Over the years, Indonesia has continued its commitment to create a deeply integrated and highly cohesive national economy that would support sustained high economic growth and resilience. The insurance industry, with its stable and growing assets and commitment, has gone beyond expectation and plays an effective instrument to promote financial stability and to contribute as one of the economic pillars to the development of the national economy.

With the aim of raising the awareness and level of preparedness of insurance industry leaders and practitioners on the wide implications of the regulatory convergence and policy reform will change the landscape of businesses in significant ways. It is increasingly apparent that the insurance industry leaders should consider a new approach and strategy. This event is an excellent opportunity to connect with senior leaders of insurance and practitioners both local and international, where all together have the valuable opportunity to express opinions and contribute to the policy making process on issues concerning the impact of regulatory convergence that is happening now and take great benefits from it for the stronger and more sustainable growth.

In this regard, I wish to place on record our deepest appreciation to the Guest-of-Honour Bapak Ogi Prastomiyono, Executive Head of Non-Bank Financial Institution Supervision of the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) to grace the occasion and deliver the Official Keynote Address; all the Moderators, Speakers, Panelists and Delegates, as well as our generous sponsors that have given their fervent support to the 27th Indonesia Rendezvous.

I would like to thank the organiser for hosting and arranging an interesting programme with exciting social activities for all participants to have a pleasant time in Bali.

There is a lot of work to be done in the days ahead, but I have every confidence that if we work together and equipped with strategic outcomes from the discussions at the Indonesia Rendezvous, I certainly believe that we can make the industry more competitive, dynamic, prosperous and support a strong national economy become a reality.
